This month was a cold one. Due to the cold temperatures, my does have decided not to have babies; which is disappointing. Otherwise, everyone is doing well and actually starting to molt. Molting is the rabbit term for shedding, and is done two or three times per year, depending on the rabbit. Because of the molting, I am glad there weren’t any shows this month; as molting rabbits do not place well on the show table. I am still hopeful for baby bunnies this spring, but I will have to wait fill early-mid March for my does to decide the time is right.
Quick side note, if any one is interested in bantam chicks, I hope to have some soon. Two of my bantam hens are sitting, with an approximate hatch date of March 8. After I pick, the chicks will be for sale for $2.50 each with a minimum purchase of 2 chicks. These straight run chicks will be a mix of Japanese Black Bantam X Red Cochin Bantam, Mille Fleur Bantam X Red Cochin Bantam, and Mille Fleur/Red Cochin Bantam X Red Cochin Bantam. Please contact me if you are interested or for more information. Thanks, and have a great day!
